I love playing music and I love watching movies. Combine these two together and you get playing live for silent movies.
I accompany silent films in many different variations. I often play solo improvised piano music, but I have also composed and performed live with a 5 piece band; The Silent Film Club.
The many films I have scored for include; Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (Murnau), Blackmail (Alfred Hitchcock), One Week, The High Sign, Steamboat Bill Jr., Sherlock Jr. (Buster Keaton), Safety Last (Harold Lloyd), The Adventures Of Prince Achmed (Lottie Reiniger), A Dogs Life, Shoulders Arms, Easy Street, The Immigrant (Charlie Chaplin), You're Darn Tootin, The Finishing Touch (Laurel & Hardy) and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Robert Wiene).
I enjoy playing these gigs in a wide range of venues. So far I've played in art centres, cinemas, theatres, parks, festivals, churches and a forest. I've also guest lectured in silent film at Falmouth University and Royal Holloway University of London.
