THE FEEL-GOOD THEATRE/WORKSHOP/EXPERIENCE NOW AVAILABLE FOR UK & INTERNATIONAL BOOKINGS
Geoff is doing Community Service and he needs your help.
He’s been sent by The Council to implement five easy-to-follow steps for building an instant, flat-pack community. Geoff’s job is to ensure social cohesion, harmony and collective joy. The only problem is – Geoff hates people ...
So, will he succeed in forming a new community with a bunch of random strangers, in just 60 minutes? Can you help Geoff see the good in people again?
Deftly deploying his trademark blend of sincerity and mischief, Community Service is Seamas Carey at his best; anarchic, joyful and accessible. Come take part or just observe this interactive, inclusive experiment from the internationally award winning Cornish artist.
COMMUNITY SERVICE IS A UNIQUE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE THAT BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER, SPREADS COMMUNAL JOY AND TURNS THE ONLOOKERS INTO THE ENTERTAINMENT
It connects with all ages and uses minimal language/ universal clowning, enabling everyone to understand the simple yet profound premise.
Seamas Carey plays Geoff, a grumpy clown character who’s been sent by The Council to spread collective joy, yet hates his job. He reluctantly gathers a crowd in a large circle; uses silent physical comedy to lead the audience through a series of humorous, silly and moving exercises.
The group sing, dance and laugh whilst Seamas encourages them to create a new collective identity, name and secret handshake. People can come and go freely, but the show needs audience participation for it to succeed.
It’s technically light touch, meaning it can adapt to a wide range of indoor or outdoor spaces such as; festivals, theatres (open space required, no seating), in the street, courtyards, halls, fields, offices, schools.
Due to the show’s minimal use of dialogue, it can be easily translated into any language and work in any culture.
“THE PERFECT FESTIVAL SHOW. HILARIOUS, HARMONIOUS AND UPLIFTING. IT FEELS LIGHT & SILLY, YET PACKS AN EMOTIONAL, MEANINGFUL PUNCH.”
