Men Are Singing was Cornwall's first alternative male voice choir.
The "beloved" (The Guardian) social art project was established in 2018 by artist Seamas Carey, as an enquiry into why younger men weren’t joining choirs any more. Over six years they developed into a 50-man-strong chorus - headlining festivals, inventing new traditions and championing a positive image of masculinity and mens mental health.
Ted Simpson's new documentary beautifully captures the life & death of this Falmouth based choir. Charting it's origin story, artistic discoveries and it's climatic ending process, following Carey's decision to leave Cornwall and close the choir. Featuring live footage from their final performance, intimate interviews with choir members and amusing behind the scenes footage, the film stands as testament to the project's legacy and reinforces their motto: singing makes you feel better.
