A musical commision/collaboration with the artist Georgia Gendall
To begin, Georgia brought a Tupperware box full of worms round to my kitchen table, where we sat for hours, tracking their movement, length, girth and general demeanour.
I then took this data and translated it into musical form, often including the exact shapes that the worms had created (unknowingly) in my kitchen and arranged it for St Keverne Band (with the assistance of Freddie Hodkin).
The piece, entitled ‘The Worm Forgives The Plough’ - named after John Stewart Colli’s book of the same title, was premiered at Falmouth Worm Charming Championshipon May 19th, 2024. A film was then made, with the same title (by Neal Megaw) and exhibited on three screens at Falmouth Art Gallery as part of their 2024 summer show ‘Ammeth’.
Music performed by St Keverne Brass Band. Composed by Seamas Carey. Music score organised by Freddie Hodkin and James Burns. Recorded by Ciaran Clarke and Russell Clarke Mixed by Ciaran Clarke Videographer, editing and colourist by Neal Megaw.
